Two teenage brothers killed in single vehicle crash Ladysmith Rd

Two teenage brothers, both students at Spotsylvania High School, were killed Thursday, Nov. 5 in a single-vehicle crash in Caroline County. Ian D. Brown, 18, and Jalen Brown, 15, of Ruther Glen, were traveling west on Route 639 when their 2003 Jeep Liberty ran off the road to the right and struck two trees. The accident occurred at 7:12 a.m. on Route 639 (Lady Smith Road) one-quarter mile west of County Line Church Road.

The driver, Ian D. Brown, and passenger Jalen Brown both died at the scene. They were wearing seatbelts.

The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team assisted with the crash, which remains under investigation by Virginia State Police Trooper S. R. Page.
