Warning: this article includes references to sexual violence and graphic allegations. A Fulton County courtroom on Friday became the focal point of fresh and disturbing claims about 15-year-old KJ Biermann, as prosecutors described videos found on his phone and defense lawyers pushed back, while a judge set a high bond and strict release terms.
Attorney challenges how prosecutors described an earlier juvenile matter
KJ’s lawyer, Jason Sheffield, sharply disputed assertions made by prosecutors about a prior juvenile incident. Sheffield said the earlier matter involved inappropriate middle-school behavior and was not resolved by any finding equivalent to statutory rape or sexual intercourse.

He argued those courtroom descriptions painted an unfair and misleading picture of how the juvenile case ended. Sheffield also emphasized KJ’s age and urged the court to consider his client’s record in school and extracurriculars.
Bond hearing outcome and strict conditions for release
After the hearing, the court set KJ’s bond at $200,000. The judge imposed several conditions aimed at limiting his contact and communications.

- Residence with his mother, Kim Zolciak.
- Virtual schooling only; no in-person classes.
- Prohibition on any social media or cellphone use.
- No contact, direct or indirect, with the alleged victim, her family, or associates.
- No contact with anyone aged 16 or younger.
Prosecutor says videos on phone show sexual acts with a young family member
Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy told the court that investigators allegedly found multiple videos on the teen’s device that depict penetrative sex with a family member under the age of 12. She also said the videos included what she described as predatory and derogatory language directed at the victim.
McGillicuddy informed the judge that the office considers this a second serious sexual allegation involving female victims. She further alleged KJ had previously been charged with sexual battery of someone under 16 and said he has been under court supervision since late 2025 related to an incident first reported in April 2023.
Prosecutor’s request and characterization
The prosecutor urged a significant bond if the teen were to be released, pointing to alleged documented physical injuries from the April incident and the seriousness of the new claims.
Arrest details tied to an alleged assault at a gym sauna
KJ was arrested on Aug. 17 on charges including aggravated sodomy and aggravated battery. Authorities say the arrest stems from an April 23 incident inside a co-ed sauna at the Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The alleged victim — described in court as a close friend of KJ’s girlfriend — reportedly underwent a medical exam the day after the incident. According to the police report, no male DNA was detected in the victim’s mouth or vagina during that exam.
Formal indictment lists multiple serious counts
On Sept. 3 a grand jury returned an indictment charging the teen with seven counts, including:
- Aggravated child molestation
- Aggravated sodomy
- Aggravated sexual battery
- Three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16
- False imprisonment
Defense presents character evidence and asks for juvenile court transfer
Sheffield filed materials asking for a bond hearing and asking that KJ be handled in juvenile court rather than tried as an adult. The lawyer highlighted the teenager’s academic standing, athletic achievements, and scholarship offers.
At the hearing, Sheffield described the emotional toll on KJ and asked the judge to release him on a lower bond — suggesting $65,000 — with his mother supervising since she is at home full time.
Victim’s fears read in court; family members present
A written statement from the alleged victim was read aloud, in which she described living in fear and said the prospect of KJ’s release terrified her and her family. Prosecutors highlighted those fears when arguing for a sizable bond.
Inside the courtroom, KJ showed little visible reaction. His father, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, attended the proceedings and sat near other family members, while his mother publicly condemned what she called reckless allegations in media statements.
KJ has remained detained at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his arrest last month.
