Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge refused the motion to hold proceedings behind closed doors. She said the legal bar for shutting out the public was not met.
At the same time, the judge approved targeted protections designed to shield the minor’s privacy. These include limits on recording and photography so media cannot capture sensitive moments during hearings.

The court ordered that juvenile court files related to the case be filed under seal, keeping those records from public view.
However, the judge rejected a bid to bar prosecutors from using certain juvenile-court information when considering bond. The ruling allows limited juvenile evidence to be presented if the court finds it relevant.

The 15-year-old was arrested last month and faces multiple felony counts in Fulton County.

Allegations tied to Alpharetta gym incident
Prosecutors say the alleged assault occurred on April 23 at a co-ed sauna at a Life Time club in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The complaint asserts the female classmate told the defendant “no,” and that he persisted. Investigators allege multiple attempts to force intercourse, plus oral and digital assault.
Defense stance and family reaction at court
Attorney Jason Sheffield has said his client is “100% innocent.” Kim Zolciak publicly defended her son and attended the Sept. 11 bond hearing.
Zolciak’s estranged husband was also present. The pair did not interact during the proceedings.
Bond set with strict conditions
The teen was released on a $200,000 bond with tight restrictions.

At the hearing, prosecutors told the court they found videos on the teen’s cellphone that allegedly show sex with an underage relative.
Court filings also state the defendant had been under some form of court supervision since October 2025.
Separately, Page Six reported the parents removed the teen’s cellphone about a year before investigators said they discovered the videos. The connection between those events remains unclear.
Emergency motion for further interviews and next steps
Prosecutors filed an emergency motion seeking court authorization for forensic interviews of minor children tied to the investigation.
The motion aims to ensure investigators can question potential witnesses while sensitive records remain sealed.
