DOSWELL – The State Fair of Virginia kicks off Thursday at Meadow Event Park and will run through Oct. 9.

It will feature new shows, such as Rowdy Rooster, Aussie Kingdom, and the Keith King BMX Show, plus concerts by Percy Sledge, Tracy Lawrence, and other performers, and tractor pulls, rodeos, and the new All-American Cowgirl Chicks.

The State Fair opens at 5 p.m. in grand style with new Premiere Night featuring fireworks, performances and a parade, and closes in similar fashion during the Grand Finale on Oct. 9, when the Fair opens at 10 a.m.
